Cleveland Fed President Hammarck stated that she favored raising interest rates at her most recent meeting because the current policy stance is "not restrictive enough"; Dallas Fed President Logan pointed out that even after removing recent shocks, core inflation is still close to 2.5%, supporting a tighter policy.

Minneapolis Federal Reserve President Neel Kashkari stated that to prevent high inflation from becoming entrenched, policy should be gradually tightened as more inflation and employment data become available, and he believes that "small, sequential actions" are better than being forced to take more forceful measures in the future.

Kansas City Fed President Schmid stated that given the continued strength of U.S. demand and investment, current monetary policy is not sufficiently restrictive, and achieving the 2% inflation target would require a tighter policy.

St. Louis Fed President Musaleem also supports raising interest rates and warned that the recent sell-off in the U.S. Treasury market reflects concerns about the Fed's credibility, and that ongoing supply shocks are driving broader price increases for businesses and households.

Of the 12 regional Federal Reserve presidents, five have clearly indicated a preference for raising interest rates. Meanwhile, seven Federal Reserve governors, including New York Fed President Williams and Philadelphia Fed President Paulson, previously supported maintaining the current interest rate, demonstrating a clear division within the Fed regarding the future policy path.
