Mathematician Andreas Thom recently published an article questioning whether OpenAI, during the training of Astra, may have incorporated conversations between him and mathematician Gábor Kun regarding Gromov's soficity conjecture, after which Astra solved highly related problems.

The Gromov soficity conjecture is a long-standing and important unresolved problem in group theory, which Thom has been studying for 20 years. When OpenAI announced Astra's "Top 10 Mathematical Breakthroughs" in August of this year, the third item was the construction of non-sofic groups. OpenAI previously stated that the relevant results were achieved using an internal version of Astra, but after being questioned by the mathematical community, it revised its statement, acknowledging that the proof relied on recent mathematical work, including the research of Kun and Thom.

There is currently no evidence that OpenAI actually used the relevant private conversations to train Astra, but Thom's allegations have once again brought issues such as the source of AI training data, the ownership of unpublished research results, and whether "AI discoveries" are based on unpublished human findings to the forefront.

According to BlockBeats, on September 10th, the Singapore Exchange (SGX) received authorization from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) under Regulation 48.10, allowing U.S. institutional investors to trade its Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetual futures. KC Lam, Head of Crypto Derivatives at SGX, stated that this move connects traditional U.S. financial trading institutions with Asian liquidity pools, signifying further integration of crypto derivatives into the regulated traditional financial system.

SGX launched Bitcoin (BTP) and Ethereum (ETP) perpetual futures in November 2025. As of August this year, the cumulative trading volume reached $5.8 billion, approximately 400,000 contracts, with an average daily trading volume of about 1,300 contracts and a notional value of $19 million. Bitcoin accounted for 66% of the cumulative open interest and 83% of the average daily trading volume.

SGX stated that the account opening and onboarding process for US customers typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, and it expects to begin providing services to US customers within the next 1 to 2 months. Unlike crypto-native exchanges, SGX uses traditional margin calls and additional collateral mechanisms, with clearing members acting as a buffer against intermediate risks, and does not accept stablecoins as collateral.

SGX plans to launch regular futures and options products for Bitcoin and Ethereum, and gradually expand to other mainstream crypto assets.

According to BlockBeats, on September 10, Zamanat announced its sponsorship of Zamanat Fund CEIC Limited, a tokenized private credit fund registered in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), with a target size of up to $100 million. The fund will primarily invest in private credit in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region to fill the approximately $250 billion financing gap for small and medium-sized enterprises in the area.

This fund is a closed-end exempted fund regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), positioned as a credit fund, managed by Truleum Venture Partners, with Apex Group providing fund management services. Fund units will be issued in the form of ZM1 investment tokens on ZIGChain and offered to qualified professional investors in a regulated, whitelisted environment.

Zamanat stated that only about 11% of SMEs in the GCC region have access to credit, and the fund will provide capital to companies with sound fundamentals but insufficient coverage from traditional financing channels. The company claims this fund is its first successful implementation of bringing GCC private lending into a regulated digital structure.
