Gate's prediction market focuses on the 2026 World Cup third-place match between France and England, and the final between Spain and Argentina.

Investors flee AI stocks, global markets suffer a major setback
BlockBeats reports that on Friday, July 17th, global stock markets plummeted as investors fled AI tech stocks. Japan's Nikkei 225 index, dominated by tech stocks, fell more than 5% at one point during the session. A Tokyo brokerage firm representative stated, "This is one of the worst trading days for the Tokyo market in a long time. Many investors made extremely aggressive technology and AI bets using Japanese tech stocks, and now they are rapidly exiting."
US stock index futures indicate that US stocks may open lower. In Europe, Stoxx Europe 600 index futures suggest European stocks may open down 0.6%. According to an official announcement, Bitget has launched over 2,800 US stock options, covering most mainstream US stock instruments. Meritz Securities (Korea): Now is not the time to sell Samsung and SK Hynix; the market is making a major misjudgment.
According to BlockBeats, on July 17, Kim Sunwoo, a researcher at Meritz Securities in South Korea, stated that the market has a significant misunderstanding of the fundamentals of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, and that short-sighted and pessimistic judgments about the semiconductor sector should not be made based on fragmented information.
Regarding rumors that SK Hynix secured orders by lowering prices when signing long-term supply agreements with major technology companies, Kim Sunwoo stated that these arrangements were not simply price sacrifices, but rather strategic investments to lock in demand in the generative AI and AI data center markets. The company is expanding its medium- to long-term customer base through joint ventures and partnerships.
He predicts that DRAM demand will be met at only 75% to 80% in the second half of this year, and may further drop to the 60% range next year; even if only actual end-user demand is considered, the demand will be met at only about 70%, and the supply shortage will continue to worsen.
Kim Sunwoo believes that Samsung Electronics' share buybacks, cancellations, and dividends, as well as SK Hynix's potential special dividend, will help alleviate market concerns. He also stated that both companies are currently severely undervalued and overcorrected.
A $40.2 million whale created a $20 million limit order for HYPE.
According to Hyperinsight monitoring, as of press time, HYPE has fallen as low as $58.78, a 10% pullback from its intraday high, and is currently trading at $59.2, down 11.2% from the previous day's price. A large whale created 60 limit buy orders for HYPE early this morning, with a price range of $20 to $40, planning to buy 666,700 HYPE tokens, a nominal amount of approximately $20 million, with a weighted average price of $30. The highest bid price is still 32.5% lower than the current price. This whale's account has $40.2 million in funds and currently only holds 4,218 short positions in HYPE, worth approximately $250,000. If the buy orders are filled, it will close the existing short positions and hold approximately 662,400 long positions in HYPE.
