According to a Reuters report, cybersecurity leaders from several major U.S. companies, including Nvidia and Adobe, have written to the Trump administration demanding the lifting of restrictions on Anthropic's most powerful AI models. They argue that the bans are hindering efforts to prevent the spread of cyberattacks. This comes after Washington ordered Anthropic to suspend access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models to all foreign citizens last Friday, citing national security concerns. A joint letter signed Sunday by more than 50 security leaders argues that Washington's restrictions will weaken the cybersecurity industry's ability to discover and patch software vulnerabilities, which other AI tools are making easier for hackers to exploit. The letter states, "This action deprives defenders of state-of-the-art models, creates market uncertainty, and jeopardizes America's leadership in artificial intelligence without a basis in real risk."

According to Bijie.com, Tencent has invested in a new AI lab founded by Lin Junyang, former core head of Alibaba's Qwen large-scale model platform, valuing the company at approximately $2 billion post-investment. In Lin Junyang's first round of funding, Tencent invested $20 million, bringing the total funding round to several hundred million dollars. The round was led by Sequoia China and Gaorong Capital, with each investing $100 million. Prior to this transaction, Tencent had already invested in several Chinese large-scale model developers, including Lunar Dark Side, Minimax, and Zhipu AI, and is currently participating in DeepSeek's latest funding round. Lin Junyang left Alibaba in early March of this year, citing disagreements with Alibaba over team restructuring, and publicly announced his resignation on the social media platform X.

According to The Information, Hydra Host has completed a $100 million funding round, valuing the company at nearly $800 million post-money. The round was led by Kindred Ventures, with participation from NVIDIA, ARK Invest, Magnetar Capital, Founders Fund, and Flume Ventures. Hydra Host provides automation software to data center operators, rents out idle NVIDIA AI server computing power, and operates a GPU-based trading marketplace. It currently has its technology deployed in 50 data centers worldwide.

While Fable-5 performed exceptionally well in the test suite and cue word engineering and algorithm discovery tasks, winning overall, its performance in machine learning engineering tasks even lagged behind its predecessor, Claude 3 Opus. The evaluation team suggested that Fable-5's poor performance might be related to its expensive API fees or that the task triggered more stringent security measures on the model.
