JPMorgan Chase plans to test real-time blockchain settlement for Japanese government bonds; MUFG intends to conduct a similar trial.
According to BlockBeats, on August 13, JPMorgan Chase plans to test real-time blockchain settlement for Japanese government bond (JGB) transactions.
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), one of Japan's largest banking groups, is also preparing to conduct a proof-of-concept (PoC) for on-chain trading of Japanese government bonds through Canton Network, exploring 24/7 real-time settlement to shorten the current traditional 1 to 3-day settlement cycle and improve the efficiency of repurchase transactions.
Deribit obtains a VARA brokerage license in Dubai; spot orders will be routed to Coinbase.
Odaily reports that Deribit, Coinbase's crypto options platform, has announced it has received a broker-dealer's license from the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). This license will enable Deribit to enhance its spot trading services, with Coinbase acting as a key liquidity provider, offering Deribit clients greater liquidity and access to hundreds of new assets.
Deribit is now directly routed through Coinbase Exchange, sharing cross-platform access and liquidity advantages.

Monaco submitted Bill 1131, proposing to align with MiCA and FATF standards.
Odaily Planet Daily reports that the Monaco government submitted Bill No. 1131 to the National Assembly on August 6th, proposing to replace Law No. 1.528 passed in 2022 and bring the regulatory framework for crypto assets closer to the EU's Crypto Asset Markets Regulation (MiCA) and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards. The proposed regulations will clarify the crypto asset services that can be conducted in Monaco and raise requirements for corporate governance, prudential safeguards, and professional conduct. Service providers must obtain prior approval from the Committee on Supervision of Financial Activities (CCAF), and the relevant licenses will also be subject to joint review by the Autorité Monégasque de Sécurité Financière and Agence Monégasque de Sécurité Numérique. The bill also expands the CCAF's supervisory and enforcement powers. If approved by the National Assembly, Monaco will further develop supporting implementing rules; Monaco has been on the FATF grey list since the summer of 2024 and has been listed by the European Commission as a high-risk country for money laundering. B HODL has partnered with ZEUS to deploy Bitcoin Lightning Network liquidity, and a 1 BTC channel has been opened.
According to a report by Bitcoin News on the X platform, B HODL, a UK-listed Bitcoin reserve company, has signed a letter of intent with ZEUS to deploy its Bitcoin as Lightning Network liquidity to earn routing fees and enhance ZEUS infrastructure. The two companies have already opened their first Lightning Network channel of 1 BTC and plan to evaluate its performance in three months, potentially scaling up the deployment. B HODL CEO Freddie New stated that this strategy aims to increase the company's Bitcoin holdings while strengthening its Bitcoin payment infrastructure.
