He further pointed out that leveraged funds currently maintain a net short position in standard BTC futures, but their net short position size has shrunk by about 50% in terms of BTC volume over the past year. As the advantage of basis trading diminishes, basis yields are now lower than US Treasury yields, and some structural short positions are decreasing.

In addition, leveraged funds hold a net long position in Micro BTC futures, but the size is small, only about 394 BTC, which is about 1% of the net short position in standard BTC futures. Ki Young Ju said that leveraged funds as a whole have not yet turned to a net long position, but their long-standing structural short position is weakening significantly, which may reflect both basis trading liquidation and directional position adjustments.
