River AI raises $1.1 billion to build an open AI technology stack
BlockBeats reported on August 11 that River AI, a full-stack AI company founded by xAI co-founder Igor Babuschkin, announced the completion of an $1.1 billion funding round. The round was led by General Catalyst and AMP PBC, with strategic investments from NVIDIA and AMD Ventures. Other investors included Y Combinator and Temasek. This funding will accelerate River AI's efforts to build powerful personal AI and provide developers and enterprises with tools to train, tune, and deploy their own AI models, truly putting ownership of AI in the hands of the individuals and organizations that use it.
Currently, most companies using AI rely on general-purpose models. These models are trained on data from the entire internet and designed for the broadest user base. While general-purpose models are powerful, they are not tailored to any specific company. Previously, building customized models required dedicated infrastructure teams, specialized hardware, and months of time, making it unaffordable for most companies.

The Swiss National Bank's holdings of US stocks hit a record high, increasing to $191.4 billion in the second quarter.
According to Odaily Planet Daily, the Swiss National Bank's (SNB) holdings of US stocks reached a record high in the second quarter of 2026. According to its 13F filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as of June 30, the SNB held shares in more than 2,300 US-listed companies with a market value of $191.4 billion, an increase of over 10% from the previous quarter. Data shows that the SNB's allocation to US stocks in its foreign exchange reserves continues to expand. As one of the world's major central banks, the SNB has long managed its massive foreign exchange reserves through investments in overseas stocks, bonds, and other assets, with US stocks being a significant investment focus. This record-breaking holding reflects the SNB's continued high exposure to the US stock market in its global asset allocation. As of June 30, the company held approximately 230.5 million Gram tokens, of which approximately 229.9 million were pledged, representing about 4.4% of the total Gram supply and about 35% of the total pledged Gram on the network. The report shows that the company's digital asset fair value in Q2 was approximately $369.5 million, higher than $272 million at the end of March; approximately 9.4 million Gram tokens were awarded through Gram staking, resulting in approximately $15 million in staking revenue, a significant increase from 2.2 million Gram in Q1. Financially, Q2 revenue was $15 million, compared to $3 million in Q1; gross profit was $14.3 million, with a gross margin of 95%; operating profit from continuing operations was approximately $500,000, compared to an operating loss of $3.7 million in Q1.
