According to BlockBeats, on September 16, Michael Selig, Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), said the Senate vote on the CLARITY Act was "regrettable" and that Americans deserve regulatory clarity, legal certainty, and consumer protection in the crypto asset market.
Selig stated that Trump has pledged to establish a future-oriented regulatory structure for the crypto asset market in some way, and the CFTC will assist in advancing this work within its existing legal authority. He said that the United States is and will continue to be the global crypto capital, and the CFTC is ready to issue rules for this new frontier in the financial sector.
According to BlockBeats, on September 16th, Garrett Jin, an agent of the "BTC OG insider whale," added 5,000 ZEC short positions 9 minutes ago. He currently holds 37,759.57 ZEC short positions, with a position value of approximately $47.35 million and a floating loss of over $22 million.
According to Beating AI News, Google DeepMind announced the establishment of the DeepMind Institute, dedicated to studying how AGI will impact science, the economy, and society.
DeepMind co-founder and chief AGI scientist Shane Legg is in charge of the research institute’s content direction, with CEO Demis Hassabis and Google senior vice president James Manyika also involved.
Legg also disagrees with the recent claim that "AGI has arrived." OpenAI President Greg Brockman and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang have both previously linked GPT-6 Astra to the arrival of AGI. Legg believes that while Astra is very capable, it does not yet meet OpenAI's own definition of AGI, which is high autonomy and surpassing humans in most economically valuable tasks.
DeepMind Institute has released its first three articles discussing AI security, economic policy, and "neo-utopianism." One of them, written by Rohin Shah and Anca Dragan from DeepMind's security team, criticizes the decreased transparency surrounding Astra's release and argues that intense competition will make AI companies increasingly reluctant to disclose model information.
In March of this year, Anthropic also established a similar Anthropic Institute, integrating red team, social impact, and economic research teams.
