Burry argues that Large Language Models (LLMs) are not equivalent to AI, nor will they be a path to achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), therefore there is no need to slow down. He also points out that slowing down AI development would actually benefit industry giants like OpenAI and Anthropic in consolidating their advantages and suppressing smaller competitors; at the same time, the giants' constant emphasis on the potential "human extinction risk" of AI could further generate market hype, paving the way for future IPOs and financing.
