PANews 2月12日消息，据美国财经媒体Semafor援引知情人士报道，美国财长贝森特周三在与参议院共和党人的闭门会议中，认同部分议员提出的建议——由参议院银行委员会而非司法部对美联储主席鲍威尔展开调查。一位知情议员称，此举意在“试探”是否可能以此说服北卡罗来纳州共和党参议员汤姆·蒂利斯解除其对美联储提名人选的搁置阻挠。“他们想拿这个条件在汤姆面前晃晃，看他接不接受，”该议员表示。“汤姆当时面无表情。”另有消息人士称，这或是一个可行的妥协方案。一位共和党国会议员表示：“总统想要的是调查”，而由银行委员会来“满足这一调查意愿”不失为一种选择。但前述首位议员对此持怀疑态度：“汤姆若接受，我倒会觉得很意外。”
