HashKey Capital Launches Asia's First XRP Fund With Ripple's Backing
Digital asset management firm HashKey Capital has announced the launch of the HashKey XRP Tracker Fund, marking Asia's first investment fund designed to track the performance of XRP. This development is further bolstered by an early investment from Ripple, the company primarily associated with the XRP ledger and its native cryptocurrency, according to an announcement today.
The fund aims to bypass the technical hurdles often associated with direct ownership of digital assets. HashKey Capital highlighted XRP's primary use case in facilitating faster and cheaper cross-border payments for banks, financial institutions, and enterprises, aligning with its own mandate to bridge traditional finance (TradFi) and Web3.
“XRP stands out as one of the most innovative cryptocurrencies in today’s market, attracting enterprises from around the world who use it to transact, tokenize, and store value. With the first XRP Tracker Fund available in the region, we simplify access to XRP, catering to the demand for investment opportunities in the very best digital assets,” Vivien Wong, partner, liquid funds at HashKey Capital, said in the announcement.
The XRP Tracker Fund will allow professional investors to subscribe and redeem shares on a monthly basis, using either cash or in-kind subscriptions. The fund's performance will be benchmarked against CF Benchmark, a firm with experience in launching ETF products in both the United States and the Asia Pacific region. This XRP Tracker Fund is HashKey Capital's third such offering, following their previously launched Bitcoin ETF (3008.HK) and Ethereum ETF (3009.HK) in collaboration with Bosera.
This launch represents the initial step in a broader strategic alliance between HashKey Capital and Ripple. The two entities intend to leverage their respective expertise – HashKey Capital's proficiency in professional asset management and Ripple's deep understanding of blockchain technology and digital payments – to explore and develop further investment products and solutions within the realms of cross-border payments, decentralized finance (DeFi), and enterprise blockchain adoption.
