Soluna Completes 83 MW Kati 1 Bitcoin Hosting Site

Soluna Holdings said on Sept. 8 that it energized the final 14 megawatts at Project Kati 1 in Texas, completing the 83 MW Bitcoin-hosting site. The milestone lifts the company’s total operating capacity to approximately 206 MW and closes the first phase of a planned 166 MW computing campus.

In its project update , Soluna also said the Electric Reliability Council of Texas conditionally classified the entire Kati campus as Base Load in its Batch Zero interconnection process. That designation includes Kati 1 and the planned 83 MW Kati 2 expansion.

Final 14 MW completes the first phase

Soluna said every phase of Kati 1 was delivered on schedule and that infrastructure costs remained on budget. Energization began in February after ERCOT approval. The 48 MW Kati 1A section was completed on April 1 and filled by Galaxy Digital, while the remaining 35 MW came online in stages through the summer.

The company describes Kati 1 as a Bitcoin-hosting facility powered by the Las Majadas wind project in Willacy County. A co-mining agreement with Bitdeer announced in August is now being implemented, with equipment being delivered and deployed, according to the release.

ERCOT classification remains conditional

Batch Zero is ERCOT’s transitional review for large-load interconnection requests. Soluna said Base Load status preserves interconnection capacity based on earlier study work and removes the project from further reliability evaluation or megawatt allocation within that study.

The classification is not final. ERCOT is still conducting verification and can remove an applicant that does not answer its information requests. Soluna said it is participating in that process and expects the full 166 MW campus to be confirmed, making the final outcome a company expectation rather than a completed regulatory determination.

Kati 2 targets AI and high-performance computing

Kati 2 is planned as a second 83 MW phase for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. Soluna says the campus is built behind the meter, colocating computing demand with wind generation rather than relying on new transmission infrastructure.

The development reflects how operators are dividing power capacity between Bitcoin mining and AI workloads. BlockchainReporter recently covered Hyperscale Data’s decision to stop Bitcoin mining at a Michigan site before a planned AI deployment. Soluna’s model differs because Kati 1 remains dedicated to Bitcoin hosting while Kati 2 is the proposed AI-focused expansion.
