Sogni AI , the decentralized creative-AI platform, is sponsoring a global student hackathon hosted by Blockchain@NTU (Nanyang Technological University) and co-sponsored by Base and Virtuals Protocol. The virtual, student-focused event invites builders worldwide to create real-world apps and tools using Base, Virtuals Protocol, or the Sogni SDK, with registration open on Luma .

The ten-day build sprint carries more than $4,500 in prizes and is positioned as an on-ramp for students to experiment at the intersection of decentralized AI and Web3. Organizers list the main hackathon week as August 16–26, with virtual support and resources available throughout the build period. Registration and event details are available on the hackathon page.

End-to-end Web3 and AI Experiences

Participants can tap into the Sogni SDK, a high-performance toolkit built to power AI image generation and fast parallel rendering on Sogni’s decentralized GPU network. According to Sogni’s documentation, the Supernet technology can support up to 512 simultaneous image generations, enabling use cases from generative bots and content plugins to full-stack creative suites. One live showcase built on the SDK is Sogni’s vibe-coded photobooth .

The hackathon stack also brings in Base, Coinbase’s incubated Ethereum L2, and Virtuals Protocol, a system for AI agents , giving teams a composable, on-chain framework for building secure and scalable applications. That combination aims to let entrants prototype end-to-end Web3 + AI experiences without stitching together disparate toolchains.

True to its open-source ethos, Sogni has set aside up to 25 million SOGNI tokens in rendering credits through a developer grant program that will reward projects pushing the boundaries of decentralized AI infrastructure. Applicants are invited to submit a one-page project concept to [email protected] ; selected teams may receive rendering resources, community support, and possible funding to help scale their ideas.

“Sogni is committed to creating an open, barrier-free ecosystem for AI development,” said Mauvis Ledford, CTO of Sogni AI. “We believe in equipping builders everywhere with the tools and infrastructure to easily bring their creative visions to life, a win not just for Sogni, but for all creators.”

The hackathon is open to students globally, and teams of up to five are welcome. Though the event is virtual and self-paced, organizers will maintain support channels and community resources throughout the build week to help teams iterate and demo polished submissions by the deadline.

For students and educators looking to experiment at the crossroads of generative AI and on-chain applications, the NTU x Base Web3 Hackathon offers both tooling and tokenized incentives to build and a direct route to access Sogni’s rendering infrastructure via the grant program.
